What if we're meant to be, like, SUPERHEROES?
9th-Aug-2012 11:10 am - Talking with Iwan and Nathan
70s / Donna

It's tough doing an oversees phone interview with U.K. actors when the connection is spotty and the Olympics festivities are going on full blare in the background. But Misfits stars Nathan Stewart-Jarrett and Iwan Rheon were game if we were, and it was particularly sporting of Rheon as he's no longer even on the series. (He left at the end of Season 3 when his character traveled back in time.) But Rheon is thrilled that American TV audiences are finally getting to see the show [now airing on Logo] since he and the rest of the Misfits cast and crew "put so much work into it, and so much love."

Here's six things we learned via our chat that might interest fans of Misfits, Iwan Rheon, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett... and even fans of HBO's Game of Thrones.

I'm not quite sure if I'm excited, with almost all of the original characters being gone. While I liked Rudi, I'm not quite sure if I am attached to him yet. Oh well, hopefully this won't ruin the first three seasons. Bring on the US remake, I am probably the only one who would not mind seeing more of the original characters, even when played by different actors..

Teen franchise hopeful “The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones” has added another young UK actor to its cast. “Misfits” star Robert Sheehan has been chosen for the role of Simon Lewis and joins a cast that already includes Lily Collins, Jamie Campbell-Bower and Jemima West. The novels’ author Cassandra Clare broke the news on her official Tumblr earlier today.

Collins stars as Clary Fray, a seemingly ordinary human girl who discovers that she can see supernatural beings that no one else can and gets drawn into the world of the Shadowhunters, humans who hunt and kill demons. Campbell-Bower is male lead and Clary’s love interest Jace Wayland, while West plays fellow Shadowhunter Isabelle. Sheehan’s Simon is Clary’s best friend who harbors a secret crush on her and plays in a band. He, too, gets drawn into the secret underground world of the Shadowhunters in New York City. Harald Zwart will direct the film in Toronto this summer, aiming for an August 23, 2013 release.

Irish actor Sheehan has a cult following thanks to his role as Nathan Young on UK teen series “Misfits”, but he has left the show, presumably in order to pursue a rising film career, which kicked off when he co-starred opposite Ben Barnes in “Killing Bono.” This will certainly prove to have been a wise choice if “City of Bones” is successful enough to spawn sequels – Clare has written five books in the main series, without counting prequels and spin-offs.

Love him. Hated Simon in the books.

Misfits newcomer Karla Crome has hinted at what fans of the show can expect from her character Jess.

Hit and Miss actress Crome will join the cast in its fourth series later this year.

"I suppose Jess says what she thinks and can see through people's bulls**t," Crome told CultBox.

"Because she's so straightforward, she gets frustrated when people aren't honest with her. She's a tough cookie, but she's quite vulnerable too."

Crome also revealed that she has been enjoying working in a comedic role having previously assumed that comedy was not her "strong point", and spoke highly of fellow Misfits cast members Nathan Stewart-Jarrett and Joseph Gilgun.

"Nathan and Joe have both been lovely," she added. "I didn't ever feel I had to try too hard with them because they've been so open and welcoming, as have the crew."
